The UConn SBA is dedicated to providing its members with invaluable first-hand experience in the sport business and entertainment industry along with tremendous opportunities for professional networking. By providing our members with unique opportunities to connect with top sports professionals, gain exclusive access to prominent sports businesses, and gain exclusive access to local sports internships, the SBA properly prepares each member for a career in sports and more.

Trips/Outings
To better understand the inner mechanisms of a major sports organization, SBA occasionally takes field trips to visit prominent sport businesses to experience their daily operations and network with elite sport professionals.

President
Alex Pugh
Introducing Alex Pugh, the SBA President. Alex is a senior Statistics and Finance major from Massachusetts entering his fourth year with SBA. Currently working with the UConn Men’s Ice Hockey Team as a Data Analyst, he is also employed as a Stats Analyst at ESPN. Alex previously served as a production intern for the UConn Athletics Video Department and as a production assistant for the Brockton Rox of the FCBL. An avid Celtics, Patriots, and Red Sox fan, he is always down to defend his hometown teams from any blasphemous takes.
Vice Presedent
Grant Reed
Now introducing Grant Reed who is the Vice President of SBA. Grant is a junior from Washington D.C. majoring in Economics and Sports Management. In his current role, he is a Marketing Intern for UConn Athletics. He is also in his third year as a student worker for Events and Operations in the athletic department. Grant is a huge Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Dolphins fan and is looking forward to seeing the Fins win the super bowl this year. He is looking forward to a fun and very successful year for the Sport Business Association!
Senior Advisor
Jared Roderick
Introducing Jared Roderick, the SBA Senior Advisor. Jared is a Senior Mathematics/Statistics and Economics major. Being from Massachusetts, he is a huge Boston Sports fan. He’s also very excited to attend the Celtic’s parade this year. Jared recently worked as the Team Statistician and Official Scorer for the Brockton Rox of the Future’s Collegiate Baseball League.
Director of Digital Media
Jenell Dorneus
Meet Jenell Dorneus, The Director of Digital Media. Jenell is a senior majoring in sport management with a minor in communications.Jenell is from Nashua, New Hampshire and currently working with the UConn athletic marketing department as a game day assistant as well as doing recruiting for UConn Football. She loves all Boston sports teams and hopes to further her career in the sporting industry one day in the city and grow her interest in learning more about Ice Hockey.

Zach Evanson
Meet Zachary Evensen, SBA’s Director of Programming. Zachary is a junior from Tolland, CT, majoring in Communications. He has recently worked at the Traveler’s Golf Championship and as an assistant youth baseball coach. Zachary is a huge football fan desperate to see the 49ers get past the NFC Championship, while he also supports Arsenal, the Boston Bruins and Celtics, and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Izzy Laber
Meet Izzy Laber, the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Izzy is a Senior from Redding CT, currently in the Sport Management program with a minor in psychology. She is currently working as an intern for UConn Football Recruiting and Operations. Izzy loves watching sports and even playing for fun with friends. Her favorite teams are the NY Giants, NY Rangers, and NY Yankees.

Aidan Conroy
Introducing Aidan Conroy, the director of member engagement. Aidan is a Senior who is majoring in communications. He is currently working at the UConn rec center as a site manager for club and intramural sports. Aidan is a massive Red Sox and Thunder fan, which means no Russell Westbrook slander will be tolerated. He also supports the Patriots and Newcastle. He can’t wait to get this year started and have an amazing time with everyone at the meetings!

Anthony Zingalis
Meet Anthony Zingalis, the Director of Career Services. Anthony is a Junior from Long Island, New York, and is majoring in Marketing with a minor in Communication. He’s currently a second year student worker for UConn Athletics. Anthony’s favorite teams include the Yankees, Giants, and Islanders.

Tanner Stimson
Meet Tanner Stimson, the director of Administration. Tanner is a Junior Marketing major from South Windsor, CT. He is currently working as a property assistant for UConn Sports Properties. Tanner is a huge fan for all things football and basketball while supporting the Patriots and Bulls. While both of his teams may be mediocre right now, he will always be rooting for them till the end.
Chief Financial Officer
Nate Yamoah
Meet Nate Yamoah, the Chief Financial Officer. Nate is a Junior from South Windsor, Connecticut, and is double majoring in Finance and Sport Management. He’s currently a Student Manager for the UConn Women’s Basketball Team, as well as a Statistical Analyst for ESPN. Nate absolutely loves basketball and soccer and is one of the most passionate Lakers and Manchester United fans you’ll ever meet.
Chief Marketing Officer
Mike Santos
Introducing Michael Santos, the SBA Chief Marketing Officer. Michael is a sophomore majoring in Sports Management from East Granby, Connecticut. Michael also plays on the UConn Club Baseball team and is responsible for creating graphics for their Instagram & Twitter. When he’s not managing one of his five fantasy football leagues, Michael supports his Yankees, Steelers and his subpar New York Knicks.
Director of Fundraising
James DeFilippis
Meet James DeFilippis, the SBA Director of Fundraising. James is currently a sophomore and is applying for the Sports Management major after this semester. James is also minoring in Business Fundamentals. James is from the state of New York and is a huge Brooklyn Nets and New York Yankees fan. Oddly enough even though he is from New York he is a big fan and most passionate about the Denver Broncos. During his freshman year James worked as a Student Equipment Manager for the UCONN football team.

Chloe Boule
Meet Chloe Boule, one of the co-coordinators for this year’s annual Sports Business Conference! Chloe is a Senior Sport Management Major from Denver, CO in her second year coordinating the conference. Chloe is a diehard Colorado sports fan, and spent the summer in London working for a sports consulting firm. She currently works as a Development Associate for UConn Athletics, and has previous experience in an MLB agency, non-profit branch of the MLB, and additional positions within UConn Athletics. She is looking forward to moving to the UK after graduation, and is excited to plan this year’s conference!

Dale Erickson
Meet Dale Erickson, one of the sport business conference co-coordinators. Dale is a Senior Sport Management Major from Littlefork, Minnesota. This will be his third consecutive year as a conference co-coordinator. Dale is a fan of the Rockies, Broncos, Red Wings, Timberwolves, and Hendrick Motorsports. He will never back down from defending his favorite teams. He cannot wait to watch Russ cook and bring the Lombardi back to Mile High where it belongs.

Olivia Ricco
Meet Liv Ricco, one of the co-coordinators for this year’s annual Sports Business Conference! Liv is a Senior Sport Management Major from Fairfield, Connecticut. Liv currently interns with the New York Mets and teaches indoor cycling in her free time. She is a huge college basketball fan and a passionate Mets supporter. She is looking forward to helping run a successful SBA conference this year!

Jackson Greaney
Now introducing Jackson Greaney, one of the five wonderful Sports Business Conference Co-Coordinators for 2023, this is his first year helping run the Conference. Jackson is a Sophomore Sport Management major from Santa Barbara, California. On campus, he currently works as a Student Manager for the UConn Men’s Basketball team as well as with UConn Athletic Operations. Being from the west coast, Jackson is constantly defending his favorite teams the Los Angeles Dodgers, Lakers, and Las Vegas Raiders from evil east coast franchises, but is also an avid fan of the Savannah Bananas and marble racing!

Will Bonazelli
Introducing Will Bonazelli, one of the co-coordinators for this year's Sports Business Conference. Will is a Junior Accounting student from South Windsor, Connecticut. He is a huge hockey fan and currently plays on the club hockey team. Will is also a fan of the Dolphins, Bruins, Yankees, and Wizards and is looking forward to Tua winning the MVP along with a Dolphins super bowl.
